Humanitarian Project Officer Trainee

Call for Trainee Scheme applicants

What is the Humanitarian Trainee scheme?

The Humanitarian Trainee scheme was launched as a capacity-building initiative to increase the number of trained professionals in the humanitarian sector. We are looking for talented people committed to long-term service in the humanitarian sector, who can demonstrate outstanding people skills and the motivation to develop excellent technical knowledge. Applicants need to demonstrate that they are committed to the humanitarian sector and have actively taken steps towards developing appropriate skills and experience necessary for working in the sector.

The one-year scheme is designed to enable participants to develop the necessary skills in order to launch a career in the humanitarian sector. It is anticipated that, upon successful completion of the programme, trainees will go on to pursue a career in humanitarian work within Save the Children International programmes or other international humanitarian organisations. Depending on previous experience, the nature of the deployment placement and the availability of vacant posts, trainees will be qualified to apply to entry-level positions.

The one-year programme combines structured, sector-leading training, head office trainee placements and self-study with coached field deployments and provides a chance for talented graduates to effectively contribute to international humanitarian programmes and gain experience in the humanitarian sector.
